The Glass

This simple piece has a simple story of how it came to be: This piece was first conceived from looking out a window while improvising marimba, hence the inspiration for the title.

The main concept behind this piece is interplay between the two mallets. This piece has the left and right hands supporting each other in various different ways. In some parts they are playing relatively independently, both with their own melodic interests; other parts include them sharing a single melody line. The contrasting section of this piece uses the two hands playing in complete unison for certain phrases, even keeping a constant interval between them.
